General Summary:

Plant:A 1mtpy Heavy Structural Section Mill capable of rolling a very wide and complex range of products to demanding customer tolerances with piece weights from 17 kg/m to 540 kg/m, run-out lengths up to 170 metres and final cut-lengths from 6 to 24 metres. Highly demanding product and process complexity and frequent fast paced product change-overs are key features of this 250 ton per hour, $450m steel mill.

Sub Plant: A 3 station piling operation and piece labeller into a banding, weighing station through to the warehouse despatch bank. Piling banks are configured as a two 15 metre banks able to operate as one 30 metre and two 9 metre banks able to operate as one 18 metre. The pieces are piled into specific formations according to customer order profiles and requirements, then banded into a bundle for despatch. Operational cycles are likely to be around 200 pieces/hr. The process is handling differing lengths and customers orders with a piece rate of over 200 pcs/hr. The process is highly automated and demands high levels of skills and attention.

Deployment date will be 3rd quarter of 2011.

Skills Requirement

  Constantly monitor, pace and communicate accordingly to mill pulpits and personnel to ensure optimal operational conditions
  Determine root cause of poor equipment operation and set-ups through analytical interpretation of available screens
  Effectively operate and pace the Piling and Despatch area to meet the critical components of Pack configuration, Labelling accuracy, order build
  Effectively plan and manage Piling equipment set-up, labeling and banding supplies, change-over sequences and other delays / interventions
  Manage the routing and order batching optimisation and strategies to ensure good throughput, flow and minimal stock generation
  Monitor and ensure accurate tracking of the pieces through the Piling Area to Finish Product Bay
  Monitor and Manage the Quality Inspection and Re-work / Gag-Press interfaces and ‘feed-through’ requirements
  Total Industrial experience in relevant Steel Industry
